She is also a software engineer, and has taught economics in Washington state. She won four consecutive terms on the Seattle City Council, also winning the first $15 an hour minimum wage in the USA. She won a billionaires tax against Amazon, which brings hundreds of millions of dollars to Seattle for affordable housing. Kat Abughazaleh is a Palestinian American journalist and activist, who came in a close second in the Chicago 9th district primary for Congress.
